🎤The Start Of Something Special: How Original Wedding Intros Began🎶
We were lucky to have the time of several lockdowns to plan our wedding down to the last detail. Thankfully for me, Eve took the lead—thinking about the flowers, transport, dresses, videographer, photographer—she pretty much organized everything! Before you give out to me, I did a small bit of lifting by sorting the suits for me and the groomsmen. And, as a professional radio DJ and MC, I took charge of the music. I booked the band & DJ, and we were lucky enough to have our good friend Cathal Flaherty (one of my groomsmen) write and perform an original song for our first dance. 💃🕺
But there was one part of the day that hadn’t been arranged—the entrance. As an MC and DJ 🎧, I know how much of an impact audio has on setting the mood. The last thing I wanted was a flat, uninspired announcement from a hotel manager or a stand-in MC who didn’t know us—stumbling over names or speaking into a crackly mic 🎧. This was our big moment—our first introduction as husband and wife—and it had to be perfect! ✨
Our wedding took place during COVID, meaning we had a maximum of 100 guests. While that had its own challenges, it also meant we had more time to perfect every detail. That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands and create an introduction that matched our personalities and energy! 🔥
For the music, I wanted two songs:
- 🎶 Whole of the Moon for our bridesmaids and groomsmen.
- 🎶 Jackson for Eve and me—perfectly fitting because, as the song says, "We got married in a fever!" 🔥💍 It was fun, energetic, and completely us.
After I put together the audio, ensuring it flowed seamlessly and brought the right energy 🎶, we were ready. When the moment arrived, the entrance was exactly as I had envisioned: full of excitement, perfectly timed, and setting the tone for the rest of the night! 🥳🥂
Then came the moment that changed everything. The wedding coordinator pulled me aside, completely blown away by the intro 🤯. She asked where we got it from, assuming we had hired someone to create it. When I explained that I had made it myself because of my radio background 📻, she immediately said:
"You know this should be a business, right?"
And just like that, the lightbulb went off! 💡
From there, the idea of Original Wedding Intros was born! 🚀 What started as something to make our wedding feel special has now turned into a way to help other couples create unforgettable moments on their big day 💖. Every intro I make carries that same passion and attention to detail that went into our own wedding, ensuring no couple ever has to worry about a boring or inaudible introduction.
Looking back, I love that this business began with something so personal ❤️. It wasn’t just an idea—it was something that genuinely mattered to me. And now, it’s something that matters to so many couples who want their wedding to feel as unique and special as their love story. 💕
Since then, we have grown our family by welcoming 2 beautiful girls into the world, Hannah and Nell. It's been a whirlwind journey since our wedding in October 2021, and I always think about how that day was the start of something so special we couldn't even dream it up.
So, if you're planning your big day and want to start your big day with something special, just know that Original Wedding Intros started with the same goal!
🎧 Let’s make your wedding introduction as unforgettable as the rest of your love story! 🥂✨
